I would like to express my heartfelt good wishes to all Nepalese brothers and sisters on the occasion of 68thWorld Human Rights Day on 10 December 2016 being celebrated worldwide with different programs and the slogan–“stand up for someone’s rights today.”
The Constitution of Nepal guarantees to respect, propagate, and ensure the effective implementation of human rights. Many institutional structures, guiding policies, and legal provisions have been made to ensure the human rights assured by the constitution and laws. By maintaining the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, freedom of the country intact, and gradually implementing the fundamental rights and protecting and propagating the human rights, the task of making Nepal a rich and developed nation has been defined as the liability of the state.
It is a matter of satisfaction that the Constitution of Nepal has the provision of National Human Rights Commission in addition to other constitutional and legal institutions to honor, protect, and propagate the human rights. In this context, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission on Investigation of the Disappeared have been formed and functioning. These initiatives have helped us to broaden the process of respecting, protecting, and propagating the human rights in Nepal.
In the end, I believe that this special day should inspire all the countries across the world to ensure the shared rights of all humanity forever.
Thank you!
